Thomas Green McCLENDON (a.k.a., T. G. McCLENDON) and Ella Wren DAWSON McClendon ("Mother Ella") taken about 1900. This is the only known photo of Thomas Green McCLENDON, but other photos of an older looking Ella Wren DAWSON McClendon exist. Both of these photos are very large and their photo was taken (in April 1998) while they were propped against the side of a house.

Information on this family was provided by "Yvonne," Gloria Yvonne McCLENDON Gault (needs a current e-mail address).
T. G. McCLENDON, a.k.a., Thomas Green McCLENDON, (November 17, 1856 in Clinton, East Feliciana Parish, Louisiana - February 26, 1920; buried in Ponemah Cemetery, Bogalusa, Washington Parish, Louisiana). Thomas Green McCLENDON and Jesse Calvin McCLENDON are half-brothers.
(Pat's Note: According to Jack Coffee's e-mail, a J. Calvin MCCLENDEN was the father of a T. G. MCCLENDEN ... so, are these the same two men Yvonne is talking about: "Thomas Green McCLENDON and Jesse Calvin McCLENDON are half-brothers." ?)
(NOTE: Jack COFFEE had found that James McCLENDON and Frances WILSON had a son named T. G. born in 1856. "Yvonne," Gloria Yvonne McCLENDON Gault is sure that he was her great-grandfather. The spelling that Jack COFFEE was McCLENDEN.)

REFERENCES
[1] The 1860 census for the Sixth Ward, Parish of East Feliciana Louisiana
was
enumerated on the 21st day of August 1860 by William Richardson.
The McClenden family was listed at Dwelling 20 and as Family 22. The
family
consisted of 13 people as follows:
Calvin, age 35; Jane, age 26; Thomas, age 8; Leona,
age 5; "Miss" McClenden, age 1; B. McClenden, 9 year old
male; and T. G. McClenden, a 4 year old male.
Family 23, same Dwelling, consisted on Texana McClenden, a 23 year old
female; Alex, age 3; and L. A., a 6 most old female.
Family 24, same Dwelling consisted of Mrs. Mary Wilson, age 58; E.
Delony Wilson, a 16 year old male and Amanda Wilson, 13.
"Miss" McClenden is undoubtedly Mary Amelia, later the
wife of Angus McNeil Smith. Texana is probably Calvin's
sister-in-law and Mrs. Mary Wilson is Jane's mother.
Information from A. F. Wilson, Natchez, MS in June, 1990, shows that Mary
Wilson was the wife of John Wilson, born 1790 in North Carolina and a
veteran of the War of 1812. He was 40 years older than Mary.
Additionally, they were the parents of Elizabeth Frances Wilson who
married J. C. McClenden on 13 Oct 1851. When J. C. died, Elizabeth
Frances (Jane) remarried to a Mr. Patrick.
A check of Booth's Records of Louisiana Confederate Soldiers and Louisiana
Confederate Commands did not find any record of J. C., Calvin or other McClenden
that could possibly be this person.

[5] Mary Amelia Smith died suddenly on August 9, 1915 at Stoney Point,
Louisiana. Her death certificate reveals that she was aged 56 at time of death
and had been born in Clinton, Louisiana. She is buried at Pride, Louisiana. The
informant for the certificate was Ratcliff Walker, a future son-in-law
through his marriage to her daughter, Florence.

James Calvin MCCLENDEN is first found on the 1860 Federal Census in

Mary Amelia MCCLENDEN and Angus McNeil SMITH were married 23 Nov
1876 in East Feliciana Parish Louisiana and lived all of their married lives in
that general area, relocating to East Baton Rouge (EBR) Parish sometime prior to
1915, when Mary Amelia died in that Parish. Angus was born Feb 1857 in EBR and
died in 1935, also in EBR Parish.

Download Thomas Green McCLENDON (a.k.a., T. G. McCLENDON) and Ella Wren DAWSON McClendon:
You can choose which file format you want to use, JPEGs or
TIFFs.
These are not good enough to print out because it is only 100 dpi and are designed to load quickly on the web page:

(24 Kb)
http://mcclendon.rootsweb.com/mcclendon/images/EllaWrenDawsonMcClendon-web.jpg
(35 Kb)
These are good enough to print out, but they are only 200 dpi JPEGs, so if you can open TIFF format
(.tif), then do not use these:

(632 Kb)

These are good enough to print out because they are 800 dpi TIFFs, but the file
size is huge, but necessary for great quality. Start you download and go to
lunch! If your printer is not great, then don't bother with these and use the
smaller TIFF files (above):

(29,657 Kb or 2.9657 Mb)
If you use the photographic paper in your printer, you can get really nice print outs.
